About Cellexus
The CellMaker range of bioreactors use a patented airlift technology unique to Cellexus. More than a decade has been dedicated to the research, design, and developments of their technology.
The bioreactor system uses gas bubbles to move cells and nutrients within the sterile CellMaker. This method eliminates the need for additional equipment and mechanical mixing while offering ideal oxygenation to produce excellent results.
The Verder pump is one of two options for users to control the pH balance inside the bioreactor bag. This component connects the controller, the bioreactor bag, and the acid / base source. Manually, or automatically, the pH levels are balanced using the pump to connect the different required elements.
The problem
From observations on client sites, and feedback from clients, Cellexus realised their current pump wasn’t best fulfilling the requirements of their users. The previous pump required fiddly tube changes and the components were from two different suppliers which needed additional work to build together.
The solution
Cellexus did a lot of research before contacting Verder and were supported by one of our expert engineers in order to find the best solution for the problem. Our competitor’s pump was removed and the Verderflex MiniLoad 1 channel 1.6mmlD pump was selected. This pump was suitable for the application because it has a fixed speed and low flow. The pump was set to run at 7rpm which was the perfect speed for Cellexus in order to provide the best results to their users and the low pulsation capabilities made if suitable for their machines. The compact design, fixed tube clamps and easy maintenance of the pump makes for simple tube changes in just a few seconds, reducing downtime and making it extremely user friendly. As an added bonus, the pump is aesthetically pleasing and coincidentally matches Cellexus’ brand colours.
